Hello again.
I know I haven't updated in a while, but I've been kind of busy lately. I started school today. Right now, I'm in the library at my school. I had orientation for gym at 7. I just dropped off my best friend, Griselle, at her Photography class. I don't have class until 9, so I have a good 45 minutes of "juicy" time. I have French at 9, Geography at 10, && Creative Writing at 12. School might be a drag to some, but to me, I find it very entertaining. Especially if my professor's are funny. Hopefully they are.
Anyways, I just wanted to check in && blog, since I haven't been on here for a couple of days. Besides school, the only thing I have going on is hanging out with friends && preparing to move houses. I currently live in an apartment in Imperial Beach(Nestor) with my family. We'll be moving just down the block into a Condo. I still have to share rooms with my lil sister, but all we can afford is a 3 bedroom.
I am extremely excited for the HISTORIC event that will take place January 20th, 2009. America will have it's first African American President. Can you believe it? I never thought I would live to see the day an African American become the President of the United States. I am so thankful that I was born 1989. I will be able to tell my children, grandchildren, great grandchildren that I voted for the first Black President. Wow.
I know this is a very long blog, so bare with me. But I would like to rant on one more thing before I leave you until the next blog. My rant is about ---> Teenage Pregnancy. Sad to say, but I know more teenage mom's or mom's to be than I do educated women. Of course, people make mistakes && girls get pregnant. And as an Aunt to a 2 year old boy && a 3 month old girl (their mom's were teenagers when they were pregnant), sometimes a baby is what it takes to change someone. Don't get me wrong, you don't need to have a baby to change. But I consider a baby, a "blessing" from God. My cousin, Angie, is currently 3 months pregnant. She's 22. I've never seen her this happy. I'm not saying she was a rebel during her teenage years, but she did have her share of rule breaking. Up until a few months ago, drinking had become a casual thing for her. Angie is my world. She's my best friend. She's funny, loyal, beautiful, caring, understanding, she's everything to me. But I do admit that her drinking was a bother to many in our family. Don't get me wrong, she wasn't an alcoholic or anything. She would just drink 3 or so days of the week. My grandma would always pray for Angie. Until one day, Angie called me && told me she was pregnant. Shock of my life. But, she's changed for the better. No longer does she drink. She hardly goes out anymore. She's become responsible. She's even going back to school to get her high school diploma (she dropped out junior year).
But of course, there are the pregnant teen girls that have no idea about what being a mother is. And sometimes it's not their fault. Their parents are sometimes at blame. I know someone, I won't say who, that might be pregnant. She's only 16! I love her to death. But I don't blame her for the pregnancy. I blame her parents; who have domestic violence in their records. The reason for my rant is because I would like to get this message across to teenage girls. Having sex at a young age is risky. Not only can you get pregnant, you can get an STD. So, if you're sexually active. Please. Use protection. If you find out your pregnant and you know your parents will "kill" you, theres hotlines you can call && they'll help you deal with the most of your problems.
