Today,
January 20th, 2009,
is one of the GREATEST HiSTORiC EVENTS in American HiSTORY.
For the first time, an African American is President of the United States of America. Being part of a historic movement like this one is an HONOR. I woke up today with EXCITEMENT rushing through my body. After 8 LONG years, we have a NEW President. A NEW LEADER! I hurried to school to see if I could catch the news && to see Obama go through the Ceremony. The moment I got to school, I hurried to my class. On my way to class, I entered through one of our many buildings at my school, so I could cut through && reach my class faster. As I rush in, I see the building packed. Even though this building (Cesar Chavez Building) is always packed with students, today was even more full. As I looked around, I saw that everyone had stopped what they were doing && were looking at the wide screen T.V. on the wall to my right. I could see men playing instruments. I knew that the Ceremony was about to take place. So, moving as fast as I could through the crowd surrounding the T.V., I exited the Cesar Chavez building on the opposite side of where I had come in from.
Practically running across the campus, I made it to my French class. I quietly enter the classroom && found a seat at the back. The room was silent. All eyes were focused on the screen at the front of the class. A woman was at the podium. She introduced the 44th President of the United States: Barack Hussein Obama. As of 12:O5 P.M., Barack is no longer, Senator Obama. He is now, President Obama.
I am here today, expressing the happiness, excitement, && inspiration I feel rushing through my body, to encourage every American to embrace our new President. He will lead us into a future of hope. It will be a HARD && DIFFICULT journey. But a journey we shall take together as the GREATEST Nation in the world.
My congrats goes to the Obamas && Bidens.
